We’re excited to announce that Patmos has joined the Secure Hosting Alliance, an initiative established by the Internet Infrastructure Coalition to build a trusted and ethical web hosting industry. As one of the 23 founding members, we are proud to collaborate with industry leaders such as Cloudflare, DreamHost, Web Pros, and Hostinger. Together, we’re advocating for fair policies, fostering trust, and safeguarding an open and accessible internet for everyone.
Goals of the Secure Hosting Alliance
The Secure Hosting Alliance envisions an ecosystem where member companies work together to set standards that prioritize security, privacy, abuse prevention, and transparency. To achieve this, SHA is committed to:
- Develop and promote a cooperative framework for fraud prevention, abuse response, law enforcement coordination, domain industry collaboration, and support to enhance trust and safety in the web hosting industry.
- Surface common industry standards for web hosting and cloud service providers and those who provide services in the industry around privacy, security, transparency, and ethical advertising practices.
- Develop a unified language and taxonomy for the web hosting portion of the cloud industry, setting clear definitions and fostering better communication.
- Contribute to legislative and regulatory discussions, advocating for data protection and cybersecurity measures tailored to web hosting and cloud providers.
- Engage in community-building activities, including virtual and in-person meetups at industry conferences, to facilitate collaboration and networking opportunities.
John Van Lowe, our VP of Customer Success, has been an active participant in SHA.
He shares that, “Patmos is looking forward to working closely with the SHA to develop best practices and guidelines for the key components of our client services which include domain registrations, managed environments, application and site development, and infrastructure services. We look to share industry-wide initiatives with our client base, improve secure infrastructure and hosting practices internally, and provide our recommendations when dealing with proposed policy adoptions with the group”
