About

Patmos exists to ransom the captives of big tech by providing world-class hosting and software solutions without the threat of censorship

Our Story

Patmos, the company, adopted its name from a little, rocky Greek island that became a place of exile. Thousands of years ago, there was a visionary whose message was deemed too dangerous for public consumption by the authorities of the day.

When they couldn’t kill him, they exiled him to Patmos in an attempt to silence him. Although Patmos was intended to be a place where ideas were silenced, it actually became a place where ideas were protected and amplified. The visionary’s message was indeed spread and the names of those who tried to censor him have been long forgotten.

In founding Patmos Hosting, we fulfilled a need to provide refuge for the digital exile. Our clients are treasured citizens of an island that some have tried to silence but have found a place of security and strength. We strive every day to help our clients break free from threats of deplatforming because we believe that every idea (regardless of whether or not we agree with it) has a right to be heard. Join us today in our fight for a freer internet.

Our Team

Patmos exists to ransom the captives of big tech by providing world-class hosting and software solutions without the threat of censorship.

Gellert, On the Board

Washington Gellert helped Java Trading Co. bring specialty coffee to the masses on three continents over his 15-year tenure, leaving shortly after a private equity sale in 2006. As a practicing Catholic, Dornay developed a strong desire to promote human dignity through business, which led to his co-founding Axia Home Loans in 2007. Homeownership contributes greatly to family and economic stability. Under Gellert’s leadership as CEO, Axia grew to fund over $1 billion annually, helping thousands of families become homeowners. Dornay is the only newcomer to successfully build a national mortgage bank during the Great Recession. And in 2016, Axia became the first 100% employee-owned mortgage bank. Just as owners take better care of homes and communities, so do the hundreds of employee-owners with Axia who now participate in company ownership and contribute to a stronger and more just and equitable economy. Dornay continues the promotion of human flourishing through involvement on several nonprofit and for-profit boards of entities focused on being forces for good in society. Gellert and his wife Elizabeth were blessed with 11 children and recently fled Seattle, relocating to the right side of the mountains in Spokane (Eastern Washington).
